“Nã Kia’i o ke Kai Wai’anae protects lives, preserves our ocean, and honors Hawaiian traditions. Through vigilance, education, and community care, we keep the Wai’anae Coast safe and strong for all.

We shared with students what it’s like to be a lifeguard, walked them through our daily responsibilities, and gave them a hands-on look at the equipment we use to save lives in emergencies.

We emphasized the importance of reading beach warning signs and understanding their meaning, always checking in with the lifeguard about whether it’s safe to swim and what hazards to watch out for, and remembering to always swim with an adult present—never alone.
